The Variac Fan Speed Controller Silent Auto Transformer is suitable for any speed controllable fan up to a full load current of up to either 1.5A or 2.2 Amps. Ideal for in line extractor fans, hydroponic fans, kitchen extractor hoods, ventilation for the office, workshop or hobby sheds.

Why use a Variac Fan Controller?

There are 2 main types of fan controllers, Variac fan controllers and circuit board controllers. The two different types of controllers handle the current in very different ways. Variac controllers actually reduce the voltage going to your extractor fan whereas the circuit board controllers turn the power on and off very quickly causing the fan to run at a lower speed. The result of reducing the voltage rather than turning the power on and off? No Fan Humming or Buzzing!
